A trip to Jewish roots in Ukraine and Lithuania. 2012.
My brother and I, with our spouses and a good friend, traveled to Poland and Ukraine in the summer of 2012. Carolyn and I went to Lithuania in the fall. We visited the hometowns of our grandparents (and, in our friend's case, her father) in Ukraine. We met survivors of the holocaust and learned their stories. We walked the Jewish streets and cemetaries in Proscurov, Berezovka, and Berdichev (Ukraine) and Vilnius (Vilna) in Lithuania. We hoped to see something of what our ancestors saw, and honor their memory and bravery in seeking a better life in the US.
